Oracle and Nvidia Partnership: Revolutionizing AI Development on the Cloud

In the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence, Oracle has taken a significant leap forward. This week, the tech giant, founded by Larry Ellison, announced its collaboration with Nvidia, bringing Nvidia’s top-tier AI stack to its marketplace. This strategic move promises to simplify and amplify AI development and deployment for Oracle’s vast customer base.

Under this partnership, Oracle is granting its users access to Nvidia’s DGX Cloud AI supercomputing platform and the AI Enterprise software suite. This integration offers enterprises a golden opportunity to purchase these cutting-edge tools directly from the marketplace, setting the stage for efficient model training and deployment on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

“We have worked closely with Nvidia for years to provide organizations with an accelerated compute infrastructure to run Nvidia software and GPUs. The addition of Nvidia AI Enterprise and Nvidia DGX Cloud to OCI further strengthens this collaboration and will help more organizations bring AI-fueled services to their customers faster,”

Said Karan Batta, senior vice president for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

The Nvidia Advantage on OCI

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is the backbone for countless enterprises, facilitating the development and operation of business applications and services. With the inclusion of Nvidia’s DGX Cloud and AI Enterprise software, developers now have a broader spectrum of solutions to enhance their products.

Nvidia’s DGX Cloud stands out as an AI-training-as-a-service platform, offering a seamless experience for multi-node training of custom generative AI models. Based on Nvidia’s DGX technology, its architecture ensures scalability with each DGX Cloud instance consisting of eight Nvidia Tensor Core GPUs.

On the other hand, Nvidia AI Enterprise serves as a comprehensive toolkit, accelerating the transition from model development to deployment. It encompasses a range of tools, from the Nvidia NeMo framework for end-to-end generative AI development to the Triton Inference server, which standardizes AI model deployment and execution. The beauty of this integration is its streamlined transition: from training on DGX Cloud to deploying AI applications into production via Nvidia AI Enterprise on OCI.

Several companies, including digital engagement firm Gemelo.ai and the University at Albany, have already begun harnessing the power of Nvidia’s AI stack on OCI. Paul Jaski, CEO at Gemelo, highlighted the potential of this collaboration, saying, “We are excited to put the dual resources of OCI and the Nvidia AI Enterprise suite to use in building our next-generation AI-driven applications and ever more useful digital twins.”

Oracle’s Vision for AI

While Nvidia’s AI stack undoubtedly enhances the capabilities of OCI, it’s essential to understand Oracle’s vision for AI. Historically, Oracle has been a powerhouse in database technology. However, the company has shown a keen interest in AI in recent years, primarily through strategic partnerships.

Earlier this year, Ellison announced a collaboration with Toronto-based AI firm Cohere, aiming to develop a service that enables enterprise customers to train custom LLMs while ensuring data privacy and security. This partnership underscores Oracle’s commitment to integrating advanced AI capabilities into its offerings.

Furthermore, Oracle has been integrating generative AI capabilities into its products and solutions, targeting diverse sectors like HR and healthcare. These advancements hint at Oracle’s broader strategy: to position itself as a leader in the AI domain, leveraging collaborations and in-house developments.

Oracle’s collaboration with Nvidia marks a pivotal moment in AI development on the cloud. By integrating Nvidia’s advanced AI stack, Oracle is enhancing its OCI offerings and signaling its commitment to driving AI innovation. As AI continues to reshape industries, partnerships like these will play a crucial role in determining the trajectory of technological advancements.

With the rapid pace of AI development, it’s clear that Oracle is positioning itself at the forefront, ready to harness the transformative power of AI for its global customer base. As we move forward, it will be fascinating to see how this collaboration evolves and the new horizons it unlocks in AI.
